Line Tracking Robot

Robotic Car Racer

Here is where it all started... Back in 2016, I entered a robotics competition, competing to see whose robot would be the fastest! It was my first introduction to how amazing, fun, and exciting real engineering can be. It was also the first time I learned about PID controller! The video you see is the final round of the race. It may not seem that fast, which it wasn’t, but considering the knowledge I had at the time, I am pretty proud of my younger self! (Plus, I won the competition, haha.)

My first ever champion!

Of course, there is no way I would just stop then. I had to keep improving the robot and my engineering skills! The first robot was made out of off the shelf parts. It was really hard to fully customized my robot.

In 2017, I got my hands on my first 3D printer and learned how to CAD. Just that one think opens me up to a lot of potentials. I also learned how to design my own printed circuit board (PBC).

The robot got smaller, lighter, better, and faster! And of course I won a few more competitions with the robot!

2nd Generation

To be honest, third year was not the best in 2018. I was distracted by other projects I was working on. I barely worked on the 3rd generation. The design was more of an “experimental” design. I added a duct fan to allow the robot to go on an upside-down track. I learn how to use a speed controller for the first time here! The robot, however, didn’t turn out performing so well.
